Understanding Clear Window Decals

Options

Inside Glass

Choosing the Inside Glass option means your decal will be produced with adhesive on the front side, allowing it to be installed on the inside of a window, while still displaying outward. This method is ideal for environments where added protection is needed — it helps shield your graphics from weather exposure, dirt, and potential tampering. For best results, we recommend this option for windows that are not tinted or highly reflective, as those conditions can reduce the visibility or color vibrancy of the design.

Rounded Corners

Rounded corner stickers use a cutting style that replaces sharp angles with smooth edges on other shapes, like square or rectangular ones. This type of cut reduces stress points at the corners, helping the sticker maintain its shape during handling, application and also long-term use. The rounded cut also supports a smoother application process. Smooth edge stickers align more easily during placement and adapt better to minor surface imperfections.

Kiss Cut

This cutting method keeps the sticker attached to its backing, making handling and application more controlled, especially for larger formats commonly used on trucks. The cut passes only through the top vinyl layer, while the backing paper remains intact, allowing kiss cut stickers to stay positioned on a square or rectangular sheet. This makes them easier to transport, store and apply on vehicle surfaces without distortion.

Die Cut

Die cut stickers are designed to match the exact shape of your design, with no background and no visible border. The cut follows the outline precisely, allowing the sticker to appear sharp and visually defined once applied. The result is a finished look that feels purpose-built, rather than standard or generic. With custom die cut stickers, attention remains fully on the design. Logos, lettering and detailed shapes are trimmed to closely follow the original contour, resulting in a clean and accurate outline. This cutting method allows precise control over the final appearance and keeps the visual free from unnecessary elements.

Transfer Cut

Transfer cut stickers use a cutting method where only the visible elements of the design remain after application. Letters and shapes are cut individually, then held in place with a transfer tape that preserves spacing and alignment. During installation, the full layout is applied in a single step, after which the tape is removed. With transfer cut decals, the surface underneath becomes part of the final look. The absence of surrounding vinyl allows the design to appear integrated rather than layered. This approach is often chosen for text-focused graphics where edge accuracy and readability are essential. Designs produced this way are also commonly described as no background decals, due to their minimal and direct appearance.

When should you start using clear window decals?

Ideally, you should start using these decals when you want to enhance brand awareness and advertise on the go.

For vehicles, clear window graphics provide a discreet yet noticeable way to promote your business while on the road. They can be strategically placed on windows without blocking the driver's view, which makes them perfect for fleet branding.

In businesses, the use of transparent window stickers allows for elegant, professional signage that doesn’t obscure the view or natural light. If you intend to use these decals for your storefront, the window graphics should be integrated early in the marketing strategy to maximise exposure and create lasting impressions on potential customers.

What surfaces are best for clear window decals?

When choosing the ideal surface for applying glass decals, two key factors should drive the decision: durability and visibility. These ones are critical in ensuring the good performing over time and that your message reaches its intended audience effectively.

Glass stands out as one of the best choices for these types of decals, offering a flat surface that enhances both clarity and vibrancy.  It's an ideal choice for places like vehicle windows or business entrances. The smooth surface ensures your message stands out clearly and with no blurring or distortion.

This kind of decals is highly versatile and can adhere effectively to a range of non-porous materials, including metal and select plastics, in addition to glass. These surfaces are ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications and offer long-lasting durability with minimal upkeep.

How to apply and remove clear window stickers?

The application and removal of clear window decals is pretty simple. The most important part though, is to strictly follow the basic rules, described further on.

Initially just make sure the window is completely clean. The surface cleaning should be done using a non-abrasive cleaner so that any dirt and dust is removed. This ensures the decal will stick properly.  Once the surface is dry, carefully peel the backing from the see-through window sticker and position it on the glass.

After positioning, use a soft cloth to press out air bubbles. Better start from the center and work your way outward.

Note: When you're working with interior glass decals, make sure to check the orientation of the design before applying it!

Removing a decal is truly easy when done carefully. Start by gently lifting a corner using a plastic scraper. If any adhesive residue is left behind, use an adhesive remover to clean it up, just prior to this, test the remover on a small area of the surface to ensure it won’t damage it. This approach will protect your windows from scratches and keep them looking clear and spotless.

Proper removal and cleaning help preserve your windows in great condition without any hassle.
